Gamecock Football News

2011-10-16-South carolina improved to 6-1 yesterday withj a win against Mississippi State, but the win was not pretty and came with a high price. Starkville Mississippi was starting to look like a haunted cemetary that was getting ready to claim spurrier and The Gamecocks, when the secondary saved the game with an interception. however, the biggest price of all was the injury to Marcus Lattimore. Lattimore left on crutches and the injury appears to be a sprain. Lattimore is one of the nations premiere running backs and has hiesman Trophy and number one draft pick written all over his face. The question now is how does this injury affect the team and his future plans. The Gamecocks have shown to be inept without Lattimore and with key conference games against Tennesee, Florida and instate rivgal Clemson ahead, suddenly October looks darker and scarier than the bright sun filled days of September.

While luckt to escape with a win against Mississippi State, the Bulldogs program is in complete death sprial it seems. They only have wins against memphis,Louisana Tech and UAB. For the Gamecocks to barely sneak a victory and lose Lattimore, This is truly a devastating blow and must have some fans questioning the rest of the season. The good news is the gamecocks are now bowl eligible so make your plans and reservations. Bruce Ellington saw some decent time at quarterback and is seeming likely to continue to share time depending on the play call. The Gameocks Head to Knoxville after a bye week and for all you spooky halloween types, the Scarecocks record in Knoxville is 1-14. bring out the curses as Knoxville looks scary.
